Quote of The Day by Dianne Feinstein

Male or Female: This has got to grab hold of 'your dignity' one way or another and realize it is being shaken by a Devil.

Quote of the day by Dianne Feinstein..........

Dianne Feinstein: "All vets are mentally ill in some way and government should prevent them from owning firearms."

Yep, - she really said it on Thursday in a meeting in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee...

and the quote below from the LA Times is priceless. Sometimes even the L.A. Times gets it right.
Kurt Nimmo: "Senator Feinstein insults all U.S. Veterans as she flays about in a vain attempt to save her anti-firearms bill."
Quote of the Day from the Los Angeles Times:

"Frankly, I don't know what it is about California , but we seem to have a strange urge to elect

really obnoxious women to high office.
I'm not bragging, you understand, but no other state, including Maine , even comes close.

When it comes to sending left-wing dingbats to Washington , we're Number One.

There's no getting around the fact that the last time anyone saw the likes of Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein,

Maxine Waters, and Nancy Pelosi,

they were stirring a cauldron when the curtain went up on 'Macbeth'.
The four of them are like jackasses who happen to possess the gift of blab.

You don't know if you should condemn them for their stupidity or simply marvel at their ability to form words."
Columnist Burt Prelutsky,
Los  Angeles Times

Be sure to forward this to all of the “mentally ill” vets you know.

San Diego

Having come to the conclusion that San Diego will be my goal for living in the future, I realize that I have given myself time to prepare for such a trip, or journey, depending on the outlook. Moving forward, planning what needs to take place will be easy but somewhat challenging, though starting will be the hardest. A foundation must be laid of course in order to have something to build upon. What will be my cornerstone?

Though California has a lot to offer as a state, San Diego as a city and a county has it’s own stuff to offer within itself. Being a city alone with various cultures, ideas, and many “types” among many other things, that’s what it gives as a city among an ocean of gems.

I am thinking of starting at mission beach, though downtown San Diego would have a better option of resource. A beach doesn’t really seem like a good spot to really start a life, but with the intention of starting things off right, a sight of a beginning where I was first introduced to San Diego years before I went to boot camp for the Marine Corps.

Which brings to the second destination, the airport. The one thing that I could see from the window of the barracks that my platoon shared with many others. Many times, looking out the window, I would think how easy it would be to just go down the stairs, jump the fence, and just sneak on somehow on an aircraft heading anywhere. Getting onto the aircraft wasn’t important, being it through the wheel well or somehow something similar. But, in one way, I was looking at my future because the MOS I had chosen was Aviation Electronics. The style of aircraft wasn’t on any fixed wing but on a helicopter by Sikorsky called an CH-53D, a helicopter that has been decommissioned for a while now.

Planning with a good foundation would be good but without a cornerstone, it would be pointless. So in starting with this, I am sure it will be a good year till I make it to my destination.

The Three Places

The three places that have been on my mind lately have been Miami, Phoenix, and San Diego. Though in my mind I enjoy winter and what comes with it, the physical attraction to a warm place has started to become something unavoidable. At some point in the future, I would like to move to one of the formerly mentioned places.

What the attraction is, that I have been to two ( San Diego and Phoenix) but have always wanted to go to one (Miami) to experience what it had to offer like the other two. In San Diego, the attraction that draws me is Mission Beach, though that may be because it is the few things that stays constant of what I remember about San Diego. As for Phoenix, just the thought of exploring more of what it is apart from the airport and hotels, getting to know what it is on a deeper level. Miami holds the most to what explorative nature there is to see. As never having been there but hearing about it has made it a bit bigger than what it may actually be.

Though I know that all things, places, and people hold a good and bad side, the calling to see what it is to develop my own opinion gets greater and greater. It may be at least a year before I am even able to consider such a move, the challenge has been set in my mind. Calling from the shadows, whispers to me in my dreams. Futures aren’t set in stone and shift like the sand.

The trip to any three would be great to take video of, with the bus rides and the waiting in bus terminals. Greyhound has become my best option at this point. Only question to be asked, what should I do once I get down there? A job at any three would be the first choice. After that, what ever offers itself to be explored.

CROW KILLS

Researchers for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority found over 200 dead crows near greater Boston recently, and there was concern that they may have died from Avian Flu. A Bird Pathologist examined the remains of all the crows, and, to everyone's relief, confirmed the problem was definitely NOT Avian Flu. The cause of death appeared to be vehicular impacts.

However, during the detailed analysis it was noted that varying colors of paints appeared on the bird's beaks and claws. By analyzing these paint residues it was determined that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with trucks, while only 2% were killed by an impact with a car.

MTA then hired an Ornithological Behaviorist to determine if there was a cause for the disproportionate percentages of truck kills versus car kills.

The Ornithological Behaviorist very quickly concluded the cause: when crows eat road kill, they always have a look-out crow in a nearby tree to warn of impending danger. They discovered that while all the lookout crows could shout "Cah", not a single one could shout "Truck." Absolutely amazing!

Boatlift On 9/11

Boatlift on 9/11...Unbelievable

Narrated by Tom Hanks

We certainly were busy watching the news right after 9/11, but never saw this......BOATLIFT OF 9/11. You know, in the 11 years since this happened, this is the first time I've ever seen this...I don't even remember seeing/hearing about this evacuation on the news! And the fact it was all done in 9 hours...500,000 people! This is a video well worth watching. The guy at the end (same guy who is at the beginning) has some great words to live by for all of us. Watch till the end, you won't regret it.

The Goldberg Brothers - The Inventors of the Automobile Air Conditioner

Here's a little fact for automotive buffs or just to dazzle your friends.

The four
Goldberg brothers, Lowell, Norman, Hiram and Max, invented
and developed the first automobile air-conditioner. On July 17, 1946, the temperature in Detroit was 97 degrees.

The four brothers walked into old man Henry Ford's office and sweet-talked his secretary into telling him that four gentlemen were there with the most exciting innovation in the auto industry since the electric starter.

Henry was curious and invited them into his office.

They refused and instead asked that he come out to the parking lot to their car. They persuaded him to get into the car, which was about 130 degrees, turned on the air conditioner, and cooled the car off immediately.

The old man got very excited and invited them back to the office, where he offered them $3 million for the patent.

The brothers refused, saying they would settle for $2 million, but they wanted the recognition by having a label, 'The Goldberg Air-Conditioner', on the dashboard of each car in which it was installed.

Now old man Ford was more than just a little anti-Semitic, and there was no way he was going to put the Goldberg's name on two million Fords.

They haggled back and forth for about two hours and finally agreed on $4 million and that just their first names would be shown.

And so to this day, all Ford air conditioners show --
Lo, Norm, Hi, and Max -- on the controls.

The Marine's Prayer

The Marine's Prayer

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(excerpt from Warrior Culture of the U.S. Marines, copyright 2001 Marion F. Sturkey)

Regardless of the situation, the Marine Corps has an answer for almost everything.

Contact with The Deity is serious business. It is also an excellent idea for Warriors who are expected to put their lives on the line against an assortment of foes. For U.S. Marines of any faith who may desire guidance when contacting their Maker, the Marine Corps has a ready aid, The Marine's Prayer
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Almighty Father, whose command is over all and whose love never fails,
make me aware of Thy presence and obedient to Thy will.
Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against dishonesty
in purpose and deed and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow Marines,
my loved ones, and Thee without shame or fear. Protect my family.

Give me the will to do the work of a Marine and to
accept my share of responsibilities with vigor and enthusiasm.
Grant me the courage to be proficient in my daily performance.
Keep me loyal and faithful to my superiors and to
the duties my Country and the Marine Corps have entrusted to me.
Help me to wear my uniform with dignity,
and let it remind me daily of the traditions which I must uphold.

If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith;
if I am tempted, make me strong to resist;
if I should miss the mark, give me courage to try again.

Guide me with the light of truth and grant me wisdom
by which I may understand the answer to my prayer.
